Imagine you had the superpower to cause a not-insignificant amount of people to start shouting about this or that topic at the mere mention of you-who-must-not-be-named. I would imagine you might feel pretty powerful being able to observe your legacy woven into so many corners of the Internet without having to go out and touch them yourself anymore.
He's still a knob though. The man who has to pretend he's a top gamer to ... well, I couldn't think of a reason why he'd make himself look so stupid.
Pathetic man-child who's lucky he has people like Gwynne Shotwell who are both excellent and don't seem to mind being out of the limelight.
Maybe that's his talent. Money and cloud cover for others to let their talent shine. The devils deal there though is that he'll never credit them either!
Right. I find that quite puzzling. Zuck hasn't produced anything apart from a platform with very questionable business practices and which serves as a surveillance tool but somehow he gets far less pushback than Musk.
Musk has a particularly obnoxious fanbase[1], it contribute to the hate Musk gets from outside this fanbase. Zuck has no real fanbase to speak of.
Musk is more politically active than Zuck, especially recently. Politics cause hate.
Musk is loud and provocative, sometimes insulting for no good reason, and has an opinion on everything. Zuck is a bit of that too, but Musk is much more.
So general idea is that out of the two, Musk is seen as the bigger asshole. A productive asshole, maybe, but no matter how productive they are, people usually don't like seeing assholes.
> Anti-Raccooners are an even more obnoxious fanbase
Let's say that's true. When raccoon is lonely, sitting on the toilet, noticing that not enough people are mentioning it, it fires off a provocative tweet to get the internet masses talking about it. Sometimes for days at a time.
When I'm lonely, sitting on the toilet, noticing that not enough people are talking about me, you'll never know about it. Along with the majority of every other person annoyed by raccoon's endless antics.
Musk is a pathological liar and madman that act 100x less ethical than the unethical Zuck and doesn't even pretend any more to have some humanitarian agenda. My couple of cents.
I get the opposite impression. People (like you) hate him because he's a pathological truth teller. He can't help but speak opinions that people don't want voiced.
I really didn’t have an opinion on Elon. However, now that he is the most powerful man in the world and seemingly directing his vast wealth to act as an unelected leader in the US. I think he deserves some more scrutiny.
I do not hate him. I do not hate anyone. I just think he's a lost madman that comes from a broken home and believes he has to treat other humans like shit, exploit anyone and everyone, ignore the law, and use lies to advance an agenda of hate. He is a violent man and a criminal.
Can you point out some of the "truths" that he is telling?
Do you think he's a good and loving father to his twelve+ children?
He is actually both a liar and a truth teller. He is like a top level poker player, you never know when he is bluffing, and I am sure it is a big reason for his success.
Expect a lie, but no, this time, it is actually the truth. Expect the truth, but no, this time, it is a lie.
He has a history of lying and making exaggerated claims.
Back in 2016 he was selling this lie that by 2018 you'd be able to summon your car from New York to Los Angeles autonomously [0]. Well, it's 2025 and he still hasn't done anything even close to that, not even as a proof of concept. If their autopilot is actually that great, prove it by having the car autonomously drive from one end of the country to the other, even if it's done under supervision.
Most recently, Elon has been caught lying about something as petty as being good at a game called Path of Exile 2. He pays someone to boost his account to a really high level in hardcore, and then pilots it for a few minutes on a livestream. Something has to be wrong with him, to think that he can fool people into thinking that he somehow grinds insane hours as CEO of multiple companies while somehow also grinding the insane number of hours that it would take to reach the top of the leaderboards in PoE2. There's just not enough hours in the day... If someone is willing to lie and cheat over something as mundane as a video game ranking, do you really think he wouldn't lie about something when there are significant resources on the line?
The hardcore poe2 ladder is hardly mundane. It is literally one of the most difficult things in all of CRPG gaming. Ever! Aside from it being extremely competitive, you have to be a master at market exploitation, probabilities, gameplay mechanics, UI ergonomics, personal discipline, and more, to be top 10 material. Or at least any 80% of those. He picked the wrong hive to assimilate.
I’m holding out hope that he will come around. Maybe he will need to take a crash course in advanced POE gaming, Billy Madison style, and apologize for hopefully the right reasons.
But he’s in even bigger trouble now it seems. Elon has now retaliated against Asmongold, leaking private DMs and taking away his checkmark. Elon needs to get himself under control as this could get much worse. It’s an embarrassment to the country, frankly. Imagine if this had happened in October instead.
You know, you might as well give it up. He won't give you a free Tesla Truck no matter how brown your nose gets.
The guy's an insufferable manchild with no more actual tech chops than the average boomer, made all the more dangerous by a severe case of Dunning-Kruger. He can't distinguish between reality and sci-fi, and goes around and buys companies that he thinks will make him look like real life Tony Stark.
He started off wealthy from his dad's blood emerald enterprise. Then he really took off buying into PayPal, a middle man service for making secure money transactions online. Literally got rich off the dot-com boom. That is textbook definition of right place, right time.
Every tech company he owns, he bought. He doesn't do any of the engineering. The only genius he possesses is in creating public hype for products he has invested in. It is 100% persona.
Because he gave us some llamas to play with. That aside he is just a beaten horse nobody takes meta serious. The only thing they do is acquire or copy/paste they had no internal innovation for nearly a decade.
The life lesson I am getting is if someone gives you llamas not a good sign run like Samuel Jackson in Get Out second time I've been tricked by llamas lol
because those of us that do not use social media can just about entirely ignore mark zuckerberg.
one cannot avoid seeing Tesla vehicles, and the sky is littered with Starlink constellations at night, and every media outlet in the world reports on just about every SpaceX launch.
Elon Musk isn't only quarantined to social media company he bought and the occasional congressional appearance.
p.s. isn't it weird how everyone is on a first name basis with Elon Musk, and gave Mark Zuckerberg the pet name 'Zuck'?
..Maybe people with mononyms or near-mononyms should just be avoided all together..
If you don't want to see musk just get the fuck off twitter already.
Every single excuse is fake. No you aren't getting breaking news, you are getting literal propaganda and explicitly rage inducing lies, precisely because the blue check and payment system enforces it.
A lot of artists are still using Twitter as their primary platform, especially in the Japanese community. Pixiv is an alternative, but the form of engagement and exploration is completely different.
What's really needed is better social media tools that allow you to follow specific creators regardless of what platforms they use. There's some ongoing work being done for that with video creators, but I'd love a generalized version for other media.
I also follow artists on alternative sites when they make an account available, but it's clear that for many creators the primary platform where they make big announcements is on Twitter.
There's quite a lot of [racoon] off twitter also. Just glancing at todays headlines we have Germany poll, rocket explodes, will make money from UK EV policy, Trump inauguration and many more.
Yes, Elon inserts himself into world events all the time and that is unavoidable, but twitter is entirely avoidable.
Millions of us never used it and never missed out on anything. Stop falling for FOMO. It's insane to me how many of the people who say "but I can't get what I get on twitter anywhere else" are objectively just "always online" style people, who have no life other than posting on twitter. People like Hank Green who I consider a good person and worthy of respect but who won't get his ass off twitter because he's addicted. He mostly admits this, but it's just silly.
Getting rid of social media addiction isn't trivial. When I was 16 I had to block all of reddit from our firewall so I could self-intervene in a burgeoning reddit addiction. I'm very lucky that worked. But I didn't go around telling people "but where else will I get my techsupport horror stories?!", I just had to suck up and admit that not reading tech support horror stories for 4 hours a night wasn't going to hurt me.
Like, imagine someone claiming that they can't stop using Linkedin. There is objectively content on there that doesn't happen anywhere else, but using that as an excuse to not stop reading Linkedin posts I would hope would be seen for the nonsense that it is.
IMO "short form blogging" is a harmful medium full stop, but that just doesn't matter because twitter doesn't own a monopoly on short form blogging and never did.
No one will be hurt by missing a tweet. Especially not nowadays, when government entities all over are transitioning to bluesky. If something is so damn important that you need to see it, it WILL escape twitter. If you want to stop seeing Elon, priority number one should be to reduce the effectiveness of twitter as a platform by getting the hell off it.
