I think almost anything is better than a giant defense contractor. I had a friend who worked at the place she called "the bomb factory" (in a completely innocuous IT role) and her stories were universally depressing.
I have a friend who worked at General Dynamics for about 5 years and really enjoyed it. At least up until all the people he respected and liked working with quit.
